Santa Barbara Zoo
Lions and Giraffes!

We take our family to the zoo regularly and have a
yearly membership. It has always been a life long
dream of mine to become a member of the Zoo so that
I could visit my beloved animals whenever I had a
free weekend. And thankfully the Santa Barbara
zoo has helped me come full circle with that dream.
My family visits the Zoo as often as once a month.
Our membership more than pays for itself.
We
love to ride the zoo train. It travels
throughout the zoo giving you a close up of the
lions and other animals. You also get views of the natural
beauty of Santa Barbara.
As an artist I can appreciate the art that is
embedded throughout the zoo including murals and sculptures.
My kids love to climb on the bronze life-size statues of
the turtle. The bronze baby elephant gives
them a pretend ride that they always enjoy.
For fifty cents you can feed the farm animals, sheep
and goats. And for three dollars you can feed
the giraffes. Your three dollars gets you two
cookies. As large as they are they are
the most gentle creatures they just stick out their
long tongues and scoop
their
deliciously nutritious cookies out of your hands.
It may seem like a lot of money for 2 cookies but
that money goes right back into the zoo's programs.
And those are memories your family will never
forget.
No matter how old you are the Santa Barbara Zoo will
satisfy the curiosity in you. Its always fun to visit, so mark
your calendar and if you are a resident, become a
member!
